What I learned from Girls Aloud: Off the Record

I recently realised that I hadn’t actually seen all the episodes of Girls Aloud’s 2006 E4 documentary series, so I decided to watch the whole thing again. I saw quite a few familiar faces from the music industry and there were some interesting connections to the band members’ futures…

I just discovered this jaunty pop number released about a year ago, and I’m quite surprised I haven’t heard it before as Annaca is actually British. She and her band of blokes are even based in the town where I used to live, Brighton! They still seem to play lots of gigs so if you like the song look out for them playing near you soon.

Song of the Day: Daley - Smoking Gun

I wrote about Daley a few months ago in my Future Pop mailer just before the video for Smoking Gun, which has to be his most poptastic track, was posted online. I thought he was talented but a bit dull before, but this song shows he could be a great mainstream artist. Now I’ve heard this, I’m even more convinced he will be a success, although I’m still not that keen on his styling. His hair looks like a combination between Erik Hassle and The Cartoons in this video!
